The Patient Safety Associate provides leadership to the nursing and therapy staff in a milieu setting in the direct care and management of patients as prescribed by the physician, therapist, and the treatment team. The primary function is to assist staff with patient care interventions including, but not limited to, early patient and milieu de-escalation, responding to code, modeling and training CPI techniques, and mentoring staff in the handling of patients.
Required Skills
Position involves exposure to aggressive/combative patients.
Verbal and hearing ability is required to interact with patients and employees. Numerical ability is required to maintain records and operate a computer.
Be able to plan, control and direct all aspects of employee relations. Tact is required to deal effectively with employees and professional staff. Logical thinking and discretion is required to make decisions in initiating and implementing policies and procedures and standards.
Be physically/mentally able to perform job duties as verified by a physical exam by a licensed physician, per pre-employment physical.
Education/Training Requirements :
At least two (2) years of college or a Bachelor degree in a human services-related field is preferred.
One (1) year patient care or related experience preferred, preferably in a psychiatric setting.
