Description


Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Assembler A

lays out and assembles/disassembles complex parts involving precision sub

assemblies, custom gear boxes, couplings and spindles having exact dimensional

specifications and operating relationships; instruct assisting personnel on

correct procedures.


Essential duties and responsibilities includes the following, other duties may be assigned.

Read

detailed blueprints, assembly drawings and routing sheets to determine product

specifications, dimensions, required tooling and product layout. Determine assembly sequence.


·


Position

parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled and/or blueprint

instructions.


·


Perform

skilled fitting, precise adjusting and aligning of parts and mechanisms.


·


Communicate

with supervisor and the engineering department regarding product specifications.


·


Remove

small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit

between parts.


·


Operate

various bench type hand tools, power tools, and presses to modify assemblies to

achieve required specifications.


·


Use

micrometers, verniers and various other precision measuring devices to adjust

and check dimensions.


·


Analyze

assembly problems; notify supervisor of any operation or quality problems.


·


Operate

a forklift, jib and overhead bridge cranes to hoist, place or transport

material to/from storage and work areas.


·


Process

all necessary documentation, inspection reports and related paperwork for

processes completed. Update computer

records of completed assemblies.


·


Train

and guide assisting personnel on assemblies.

Verify the work of others to specifications.


·


Follow

all clean up and housekeeping procedures.

Comply with all quality and safety regulations.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR


EXPERIENCE:
Requires 2+ years of trades training or equivalent

experience. Three to five years relevant Machine Shop Experience.
