Description

This position manages the production department of a plant across shifts, ensuring the manufacturing of products in planned quantities, at budgeted cost, safety and of desired quality for the Milwaukee Gear business unit.

Provides hiring, promotion and disciplinary action recommendations in a collective bargaining environment. Also provides performance evaluation and feedback for direct reports. Ensures all safety procedures are followed and metrics met. Manages the most difficult problems involving the manufacturing process. Liaisons with functional or operational area managers (e.g. in supply and logistics, or sales) to understand current and future product needs and develops plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities. Provides supervision and guidance to Production Supervisor(s). Leads activities and projects to support continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.

7+ years experience (Materials, Mfg Eng, Quality, Production).

Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma acquired within 3 years

Black Belt in Lean Sigma preferred.
