Belgium: SENIOR OFFICER FOR PROGRAMS
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Senior Officer for Programs (SOP) is member of a small and dynamic staff at the International Secretariat of Pax Christi. The SOP is responsible for the oversight of all Pax Christi International programs, ensuring that they adhere to agreed-upon standards from a results-oriented approach. The SOP reports to the Secretary General. More specifically, the SOP:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
a. Leads the creation, coordinates implementation, and ensures oversight of institutional programs initially based on results of regional mappings of member organizations.
b. Participates in the development of a global capacity-building exchange platform initially based on the results of regional mappings of member organizations.
c. Coordinates internal processes of program/project proposal writing and reporting.
d. Coordinates the creation and use of a results-based institutional planning system, including the development of monitoring and evaluation standards.
e. Works closely with selected staff and regional coordinators in all stages of program-related cycles, from design to evaluation.
f. Builds and strengthens relationships with members and partners through program planning and implementation.
g. Collaborates closely with the organizational leadership and other staff members on program-related fundraising issues.
h. Prepares ad-hoc reporting and presentations as needed.
i. Oversees work of selected contractors and trainees.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
a. Advanced university degree in peacebuilding, social sciences, international development or other related field.
b. Minimum five years of program management experience, including substantive experience concerning supervision of contractors and trainees.
c. Substantive experience in program design using participatory approaches.
d. Substantive experience of results-oriented planning using the logical framework methodology (or similar).
e. Substantive expertise in program proposal writing. f. Substantive experience creating and implementing program-related monitoring and evaluations systems.
g. Demonstrable experience of managing multiple projects concurrently.
h. Previous experience on curriculum development for educational or training programs.
i. Advanced user of Microsoft Office software as well as planning related software.j.Experience in a non-profit environment.
k. Full professional proficiency in English – working knowledge of French and Spanish is highly desirable
l. Experience with strategic planning processes is highly desirable.

Highly creative and proactive; able to generate and implement innovative ideas and strategies;
Excellent collaborative skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with a significant diversity of groups – in terms of culture, religion, geography, and age – across the organization.
Strong communicator with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
LOCATION, TERMS AND SALARY
This is a full time position based at the Pax Christi International Secretariat in Brussels, Belgium. Contract, salary and benefits will follow Belgian non-profit standards in the socio-cultural sector. If needed, Pax Christi International will sponsor a work permit for the selected candidate.
